Chef Purnima Lama is a dedicated and emerging culinary professional who represents the new generation of Nepal’s hospitality industry with passion, discipline, and a strong commitment to growth. Beginning her journey as an entry-level commis chef, she has steadily developed her skills through hands-on experience across multiple departments, building a well-rounded foundation in both kitchen operations and overall hospitality service.


Originally from Pokhara, Purnima pursued her early education in hotel management at Mount Annapurna Secondary School, where she first developed her interest in the hospitality field. She later continued her academic journey by completing a Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management from Fishtail Mountain College, Pokhara. Her education provided her with both theoretical knowledge and practical exposure, preparing her for the dynamic demands of the industry.

During her academic years, Purnima gained valuable international experience through internships in reputed hospitality establishments. She completed her internship at Shangri-La Barr Al Jissah in Muscat, Oman, where she worked as a room attendant and developed a strong understanding of housekeeping standards, discipline, and attention to detail. She further expanded her exposure by training in the food and beverage department at Courtyard by Marriott in Penang, Malaysia, where she learned about service operations, guest interaction, and global hospitality practices.


After returning to Nepal, she stepped into the kitchen as a Commis III at Himalayan Java Café in Pokhara. This role marked the beginning of her focused culinary journey, where she gained practical experience in food preparation, teamwork, and maintaining quality and consistency in a fast-paced environment. Alongside her kitchen career, she also contributed to hospitality education as a culinary instructor at Pokhara Institute of Culinary Excellence, sharing her knowledge and helping aspiring students build their skills.

Currently, Chef Purnima Lama is working as a Chef de Partie at The Society Fine Dining in Kathmandu, where she continues to refine her culinary techniques and strengthen her role within a professional kitchen environment. Known for her multitasking ability, strong work ethic, and attention to detail, she consistently demonstrates reliability and efficiency in her work. She also maintains a solid understanding of HACCP standards and food safety practices, ensuring hygiene and quality remain a top priority.


Beyond her professional responsibilities, Purnima has a deep interest in food and beverage, with a passion for exploring different cuisines and continuously learning new techniques. She believes in growing through experience and remains committed to improving her skills while adapting to the evolving culinary landscape.
