On His Birthday, Chef Dipak Phuyal Funds Culinary Training for Youth Affected by Rasuwa Flash Flood

Kathmandu, September 19, 2026 — Marking his birthday with a meaningful social initiative, Chef Dipak Phuyal, a Nepali culinary professional and proud Nepali food ambassador based in Australia - a Certified Member and Authorized Representative of Chef Nepal in Australian territory, has announced a NPR 200,000 fully funded culinary training scholarship for people affected by the recent flash flood in Rasuwa and Nuwakot.

Instead of celebrating the day only personally, Chef Phuyal has chosen to support 10 flood-affected individuals with a one-month intensive foundational cooking training program at Mahalaxmi Culinary Art Academy Nepal.

The initiative is particularly intended for people whose jobs, businesses or regular sources of income may have been disrupted after communities and working areas were severely affected by the flash flood. The program is designed as a quick livelihood-support pathway for those who want to learn practical culinary skills and return to employment as soon as possible.

Each selected participant will receive a fully funded scholarship, covering the one-month culinary training. Following successful completion of the course, Mahalaxmi Culinary Art Academy Nepal will also support job placement, helping trainees move from short-term skills training toward employment.

Chef Nepal will coordinate the initiative, including public promotion, applications, beneficiary selection, enrollment and coordination with the training academy.

Speaking about the initiative, Chef Dipak Phuyal said his birthday felt like an appropriate occasion to give something meaningful back to the communities connected to his homeland.

“If my birthday can create an opportunity for someone affected by the flood to learn a skill, find a job and rebuild their livelihood, that would make the day much more meaningful.”

Chef Nepal will officially open applications shortly, with priority given to genuine flood-affected applicants from Rasuwa and Nuwakot who are interested in taking a speedy culinary training program and entering the hospitality workforce.
