Momo Goes Global: Chef Binod Unveils New Book at National Geographic Food Festival

Chef Binod Baral, a renowned food ambassador and culinary storyteller originally from Pokhara and now based in London, officially launched a Nepali-language book “MoMo ka Pilaharu” (Footprints of MoMo) at the prestigious National Geographic Traveller (UK) Food Festival held at the Business Design Centre in London. The event, which celebrates global culinary cultures, provided an ideal platform for Chef Binod to bring the story and spirit of Nepali cuisine to an international audience.


The book launch was marked by a ceremonial unveiling conducted by a distinguished panel that included literary figure Yubaraj Nayaghare, social activist Naveen Gurung, entrepreneur Janak Rai, beverage expert Tara Waiban, and Chef Binod Baral himself. The event was organized by the Momo Foundation with co-support from Saraswati Kendra Nepal, both of which have been actively promoting Nepali culture and heritage abroad.


Addressing the audience during the launch, Chef Binod passionately shared his vision of Nepali cuisine on the global map. “Momo is not just food for Nepalese. It is our emotion, our identity, our diplomacy, and a bridge that connects us with the rest of the global community,” he said. His words resonated with many in the audience, reinforcing the cultural significance momo holds for Nepali people across the world.
