Chef Shyam Thapa is a dedicated and passionate culinary professional whose journey from a small village in Nepal to some of the finest luxury resorts in the Maldives and the UAE is a story of perseverance, curiosity, and unwavering commitment to the art of cooking. Born on 16 May 1990 in Rabi Opi-5, Chapleti, Kavrepalanchok, Nepal, Shyam spent his early years in a family rooted in agriculture. Surrounded by the rhythms of village life, he developed a strong work ethic and a deep respect for tradition—values that continue to guide his approach in the kitchen.

Inspired by his elder brother, who worked as a chef at Godawari Village Resort, Shyam discovered his passion for hospitality while pursuing his +2 studies at Kitini College. Encouraged to explore the culinary arts, he completed a three-month kitchen training program and began working at a small fast-food café, gaining hands-on experience while continuing his education. Over time, he worked at respected hotels in Nepal, including Hotel Mystic Buddha and Chef House Resort, learning from experienced chefs such as Ramesh Rayamajhi and Keshab Khadka. Their mentorship helped him refine his skills and deepen his love for the culinary profession.

His journey in the UAE continued through Hili Rayhaan by Rotana and Bab Al Qasr Hotel, where he advanced his technical skills and leadership abilities in fast-paced, high-standard environments.
