Chef Sanjay Khatri is an ambitious and dedicated culinary professional hailing from Khotang, Nepal, currently residing in Belbari, Morang. From the humble streets of his hometown to international kitchens, Chef Sanjay’s journey is a testament to perseverance, discipline, and unwavering passion for the culinary arts.


Growing up, Chef Sanjay faced significant challenges, including long daily commutes during his studies. Even as a young student attending Sushma Godawari College for his +2 in Hotel Management, he would wake up at 3 AM, walk or cycle to the bus station, and navigate a 20-kilometer journey to college. These early hardships instilled resilience, patience, and a relentless work ethic that would become the foundation of his professional life. Encouraged by his parents — his father a veteran of the Nepal Army and his mother a constant source of support — he developed the determination to pursue his dreams without hesitation.

Driven by a desire to become a world-class chef, Chef Sanjay completed a Bachelor’s in Hotel Management from Pokhara University. During his studies, he worked across various hotels in Nepal, gaining practical experience and sharpening his skills. His dedication led him overseas to Saudi Arabia, where he joined the prestigious InterContinental by IHG as a Commis 1, managing the coffee break section and eventually mastering the Western Cold Kitchen. There, he honed expertise in sandwiches, canapés, salads, appetizers, sushi, terrines, roulades, and various dressings, while strictly adhering to SOPs, portion control, and food safety protocols including FIFO standards.


After one and a half years of valuable international experience, Chef Sanjay returned to Nepal to further plan his growth. He is now preparing to move to Europe, aiming to expand his culinary knowledge, gain exposure to diverse cuisines, and sharpen his kitchen management skills. Guided by his personal motto — “Give your 100% each and every second for growth” — he approaches every opportunity with dedication, viewing challenges as stepping stones toward excellence.

Chef Sanjay is deeply inspired by his family, especially his parents, whose sacrifices and unwavering support continue to motivate him. He is committed to elevating Nepalese cuisine on the global stage, aspiring not only to perfect his craft but also to contribute to the growth of the hospitality industry. With a relentless pursuit of learning, practical experience, and a heart devoted to culinary creativity, Chef Sanjay Khatri represents the next generation of Nepali chefs who dream big and achieve bigger.
