Originally from Nepal and now based in Sliema, Malta, he has built his career through years of dedication, hands-on experience, and a deep commitment to mastering the craft of cooking. For Netra, becoming a chef was never just a profession—it has always been a path of learning, discipline, and personal evolution.
With over a decade of experience in professional kitchens, Netra has worked across multiple countries, including Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Malta. Each step of his journey has exposed him to diverse culinary cultures and demanding kitchen environments, helping him develop into a versatile and adaptable chef. From high-volume operations to refined dining settings, he has consistently demonstrated the ability to perform under pressure while maintaining quality and consistency.
His early career in Dubai played a significant role in shaping his culinary identity. Working in well-known establishments such as Galitos Restaurant at Dubai Festival City Mall, Living Concept’s Asian 5, Eat Greek Kouzina, and the renowned Amazonico Restaurant in DIFC, he gained extensive experience across multiple kitchen sections. Starting from roles that required managing day-to-day kitchen operations and coordination, he gradually advanced to more specialized positions, working across wok, grill, tandoor, ceviche, pizza, pasta, and cold kitchen sections.

During his time at Amazonico, Netra further refined his skills in Latin American, Peruvian, and Pan-Asian cuisines, developing a strong understanding of flavor balance, plating techniques, and high-end kitchen standards. His ability to handle multiple sections and lead operations within his station reflects both his technical competence and his leadership qualities. Currently, he continues to apply his expertise as a Chef de Partie at Papafuku Restaurant under Gates Hospitality, where he focuses on Pan-Asian cuisine and modern culinary execution.
Netra’s culinary foundation is strengthened by formal training, including a culinary diploma from the International Center for Culinary Arts (ICCA) in Dubai and advanced certifications in food hygiene and safety. He has also received multiple recognitions such as Employee of the Month and Employee of the Year awards, reflecting his consistency, dedication, and contribution to kitchen operations.
His experience spans a wide range of culinary styles, including continental, Italian, oriental, Latin American, and fusion cuisine. This diversity has given him a global perspective on food, allowing him to adapt techniques and ingredients while maintaining authenticity and creativity in his dishes. Whether working on a fast-paced service line or preparing refined plates, he approaches every task with precision and attention to detail.

At the core of his cooking philosophy is a strong belief in fundamentals. Netra emphasizes the importance of basic techniques—clean knife skills, proper heat control, and organized mise en place—as the foundation of great cooking. He believes that consistency and discipline are what transform simple ingredients into memorable dishes.
Driven by curiosity and a passion for continuous improvement, Netra remains committed to learning new cuisines, exploring global food trends, and refining his craft. As a certified member of Chef Nepal, he actively engages with the culinary community, seeking to grow both professionally and personally.
Today, Chef Netra Magar represents the new generation of Nepali chefs making their mark internationally.
