Bhedetar to Host 13th Food Festival Showcasing Ethnic Flavors

13th Bhedetar Food Festival

Kathmandu: The 13th edition of the food festival is going to be in Bhedetar which is a very attractive place for tourists in Dhankuta. The Hotel Association Bhedetar is the organizer of the festival that will run from Poush 16 to 18 (December 31 to Jan 2). 


The festival will be a platform for local and ethnic dishes, as declared by the organizers. The focus will be on the traditional food of the Rai, Limbu, Magar, Gurung, Yampu, and Newar communities as informed in the press meet. Furthermore, the tourists who will take part in the festival will be able to have such exciting experiences as mountain biking and paragliding.


The event is going to be a great chance to advertise different tourist attractions in Bhedetar area as well, such as Skywalk, Pathivara Temple, Thakaldanda Picnic Spot, Atmabasne Ghar, Janajati Park, Namaste Waterfall, Karkichap Waterfall, and the KhuwalungDhwaje Trail.

Tumar Limbu, President of the Hotel Association Bhedetar, shared that the festival is primarily aimed at promoting domestic tourism. By means of the food festival, we want to bring the government's attention to the modernization of Bhedetar, he said.


He said that the festival is scheduled to create a business turnover of NPR 2 crore 50 lakh and will be able to bring 50 to 60 thousand tourists to Bhedetar. The organizers say that the Namje area, which was ranked by CNN as one of the 12 must visit destinations, makes Bhedetar even more valuable as a tourist hub.


Along with the festival, hotels and restaurants in Bhedetar are going to provide food and accommodation at a 10% discount. There are roughly 200 hotels and restaurants of both large and small, in the area, which are able to serve around four thousand visitors daily.
