Chef Joel Miner is a United States Army veteran with ten years of service. With more than 15 years of experience, he has worked in the international culinary industry. As an experienced chef currently based in Kathmandu, Nepal, he plays an active role in promoting Nepali cuisine and contributing to the global culinary landscape through innovation, leadership, and cross-cultural collaboration.
His career spans over twenty-five culinary projects across multiple markets, including restaurant concept development, hospitality consulting, menu engineering, and full-scale restaurant design. Chef Joel has led projects ranging from intimate two-person kitchens to large-scale operations with over two hundred staff members, including multi-unit restaurant groups and fine dining establishments.
Having lived and worked across the United Kingdom, Europe, Mexico, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East, Joel has developed a globally influenced palate shaped by diverse culinary traditions. His international experience allows him to identify connections between global flavors, ingredients, and techniques, positioning him as a leader in fusion cuisine, modern gastronomy, and cross-cultural culinary development.
With a deep respect for culinary history and traditional cooking methods, Chef Joel is dedicated to preserving and elevating authentic cuisines. He is particularly focused on advancing Nepali cuisine on the global stage, modernizing traditional dishes while preserving their cultural integrity. His work supports the growth of Nepal’s culinary tourism industry and highlights the richness of Himalayan ingredients, regional recipes, and local food heritage.
