Bhojan Lipi Swaad - 3

Kathmandu, June 1, 2025 (18th Jestha, 2082) - In a vibrant celebration of Nepali flavors, culture, and culinary identity, the third edition of the Bhojan Lipi Swaad campaign was successfully held today at Nepal House, Hattisar, bringing together a powerful lineup of culinary talent, including the creators of the Bhojan Lipi movement and the rising stars from the national cooking reality show Chef Nepal.

The event was jointly led by Chef Ghanashyam Kandel and Chef Durga Khadka, co-authors of the upcoming Nepali culinary book Bhojan Lipi, and passionate advocates for the global promotion of Nepali cuisine. Their vision was reflected in an immersive experience that combined storytelling, live culinary demonstrations, and the revival of regional recipes using indigenous ingredients.

Adding excitement and inspiration to the event was the participation of groundbreaking competitive cooking reality TV show Chef Nepal’s winner Ajueehang Chamling  and runner-up IngwaSubba, who joined the Bhojan Lipi team in preparing a series of authentic yet creatively plated Nepali dishes. This marked a unique fusion of tradition and innovation as the young chefs showcased the power of Nepali gastronomy in a modern context.

“Nepali food is more than just taste—it's memory, identity, and pride,” said Chef Ghanashyam during his address. “Through Bhojan Lipi and events like this, we are documenting and celebrating our food heritage for the world.”

From Eastern delicacies to Himalayan highland flavors, guests at the event were treated to a curated tasting experience, highlighting underrepresented local ingredients and traditional preparation methods. Dishes were presented with a focus on cultural narrative, sustainability, and the use of locally-sourced produce—aligning perfectly with the core objectives of the Nepali Food Promotion Campaign.

The event also served as a platform to promote the upcoming Bhojan Lipi cookbook—a literary and culinary archive that aims to preserve and promote Nepal’s diverse food culture. “Being part of Chef Nepal changed my life,” said Ajuehang Rai, who continues to champion Nepali cuisine through TV appearances and grassroots initiatives. “To now work alongside legends like Chef Ghanashyam and Chef Durga is a huge honor and responsibility.”

Chef Ghanashyam emphasized the significance of such collaborations: “Bhojan Lipi is a bridge between generations of chefs, and we’re proud to mentor emerging talents like Ajuehang and Ingwa, who represent the future of Nepali cuisine.”

Hosted by Nepal House, a restaurant renowned for its dedication to authentic Nepali hospitality and taste, the event drew an enthusiastic crowd of food enthusiasts, media representatives, influencers, and culinary professionals. The beautifully curated venue at Hattisar added elegance to an afternoon filled with aromas, colors, and conversations around food.
